So this is it - the end of the #NAGG Challenge.
It's been a blast reaching into my bag of tricks and seeing what I could pull out. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. Thanks to everyone who helped/participated in the challenge alongside me!! Todays last day prompt is Art Nouveau.
I'm back with ANOTHER review today! Nicole by OPI has new textured polishes out like you've never seen before - and I for one am IN LOVE with them! They're not your typical glittery beauties, instead they mimic house stucco to me. I think they're awesome, and very well executed. Wanna see for yourself?
Hi sweet babies!! It feels like FOREVER since I live posted. I have had most of the last week or two of the NAGG Challenge pre-scheduled so this is the first daily live post I've done in awhile! Hope you're all doing well...I have had a very busy couple of weeks and am so glad it's finally slowing down a bit! But today I have a few beautiful polishes from Leesha's Lacquer to share with you! You in? Better be! Let's go!
Hello!!! Here we are at the next to last day of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge. Awwww. Sad face...my baby is almost done. It sure has been fun, and challenging! Today we are going with Pointillism. This movement is the art of creating small dots in different colors to make one larger image. I of course did nothing like that, and because of the challenging factors of this challenge, decided to kind of take it easy with just some simple dots.
Yay! Today is one of my favorite days of this challenge for Nail-Art-A-Go-Go! I love graffiti - growing up in California and making lots of excursions into LA and surrounding areas, I always loved seeing the paintings scrawled all over buildings and trains. Even in the south now, we live right near a major train line and we get to see some cool graffiti on the trains when they pass through.
Hey guys! Today is our Watercolor prompt for the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge - lots of interesting possibilites here - water marbling, many different ways of doing a watercolor mani, and the thing I chose to do - the Salted Watercolor Mani!
Hey guys! You might remember I tried my hand at a Pop Art mani once before, with what I would consider seriously lackluster results, I basically hated it. But this one today, well I loves this one. I actually did this mani as a tutorial for my monthly series with Pure Nail Lacquer! So you can see that video at the end of this post too!
Hey loverlies! Today...what day is it today? I'm scheduling these somewhat in advance because I have a pretty busy week at the end of the month here and I want to make sure I get things handled..so happy whatever day it is today! For the NAGG Challenge, today the prompt is "Oils" - I took this as a literal sign to do a cool thing I had in my brain for a few weeks, a brushstroked mani with a twist.
So today starts the REALLY challenging (not to mention FINAL) part of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge. I'm EXCITED! And nervous! But these were ALOT of fun, and hopefully everyone else participating thinks so, too. Today is Surrealism, which is just about my favorite art movement. I didn't realize until after I did these that I mixed up my art movements! This should actually go under Abstract...but oh well. I'm not doing another one!
If you're like me, you are probably sick to death of the SNOW. We didn't get nearly as much as lots of places, but for where we live we got way more than we bargained for this winter, and lots of headaches to go along with it! But todays snow on the blog is much prettier, safer and less headache inducing (I hope!)
Ok - so I am excited as I can be over todays mani! I love robots, I have loved robots since I can remember, they are right up there with my love for Frankenstein! So I was torn between doing them for Sci Fi day or for Pop Culture day, as you can see I did them for Pop Culture Day, and it was soooo hard not to bump them up to Sci Fi so I could post them sooner!
It's Game Night! Ok - its NOT, but it is on the blog! Thats todays prompt for the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge, and almost immediately I knew what I was going to do for this one. In our house, games are solely video games. But every now and then we might throw in some cards or checkers. And of course, there has got to be some snacks!
Todays prompt for the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge is Sci Fi! I can't wait to see what everyone does for this one since its so wide open and I know there are lots of scifi babies out there! I toyed with a few ideas, some of which came to fruition in other days of the challenge, so I ended up with your classic Alien theme!
Oh boy! I am so very excited about todays post. One of my favorite shows ever is Adventure Time. I have wanted to do some AT nails for quite some time now but everytime I see someone else do them I decide to not do them. But then this prompt came along and I knew it was (Adventure) Time! Of course, I kept it a little simple and only did one character (albeit one with many faces) - but since BMO is my favorite character on the show, its hardly a sacrifice!
Hey all you wonderful people! Things are getting better round these parts...still down with debilitating cramps but most other things are in check. If only I could just lay in bed and do my nails life would be ok...good thing I had most of this challenges manis done before it even started or I'd be screwed! We are now into the Art History week of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge - and this is by far my favorite part of the challenge!
Oh you guys! I swear I try my hardest not to be one of those "complainer" bloggers, I try to keep my personal biz my own, but sometimes you just gotta vent! I have had the crappiest week! So much snow, power outages, some of the worst endo cramps of my life and drama in the family...I am ready for something good to happen! I did get to purchase some of the new ILNP spring line for Valentines Day though, so it isn't ALL bad, right?!
Hi babies!! So just when I thought this crap winter couldn't get ANY worse, we lost our power last night! Like almost immediately after I posted yesterdays blog post. Luckily, unlike when the tornado hit our city and we were out of power for 4 days, this time it was only about 18 hours. So in the span of 3 weeks we've had two snowfalls and lost water AND power. Sheesh. The snow was beautiful though! Do you have any winter woes? Come on spring!!
Ok - so don't laugh. I have a new watermark on these photos because I am going to be redoing my blog layout. Its actually been ready to go for awhile now but I didn't want to spring it so soon after the last one. When I designed this current layout it had all of the ingredients of my personality but I cooked it wrong and added a little too much. Sometimes I get carried away, and after living with it for only a few weeks, I was so over it and the original simplicity I was going for in 2014. So in the next week or two I will be transitioning to a new layout I think you will really love. At some point when I do that I will be pulling the blog offline for an hour or two while I change it. Anyway - just thought I'd get that out there!
Hey guys! This is a little late, but I'm still on the right day at least! I've been fighting being sick for a few days and of course it never fails when you're late there will be plenty of things to be make you even later! Like SNOW! And maybe I had a nervous breakdown this morning too. Oh well....here we go with Day 12!
Well - it looks like here in Georgia we are "maybe" getting some more snow...or maybe we aren't. They can't seem to figure it out but it's all they can talk about. I dont mind it, but it seems to make a lot of people crazy, and hopefully after the last snow we had a few weeks ago we won't have any issues like we did when we went without water for 4 days. Winter, I am SOOO over you.
Todays prompt for the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge is Night Sky. I toyed with ideas of space nails, stars, darkness, but in the end I opted for a sunset type of design. I do love it in theory but my gradient could definitely use some improving I think.
Hey hi hellooooo! So, are you as excited about The Walking Dead tonight as I am?! OMG! I go through phases of loving it and hating it, but after the end of the first half of this season, I am freaking out over what will happen next and how everyone will react to what happened!? GAH! Anyway! Today besides all that hype I have half of the new Sea Goddess Collection from China Glaze to show you. This is a full texture collection in gorgeous spring colors, and I definitely believe the three I have for you today are the best of the collection!
Salon Perfect is a brand run under the same company as China Glaze at a much more reasonable price point. They came on the scene hot last year with their micro matte glitter polishes in all kinds of crazy neon combinations. Now they are here again with a very fun Valentines collection that includes several different styles of artificial lashes as well. When I saw the collection there were 3 I was super excited to try - as luck would have it, those were the exact three polishes PR sent me! So let's check them out, shall we?
Hi sweeties! Today is Inner Geek day for the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge! I decided to go freehand for this one and do some random little geeky items for every geek. Unfortunately, my super thin brush I like to use for details had slipped under my table (it's since been recovered) so I had to use a different brush and I think the mani suffers because of that, but it's still fun!
Back again with some more swatches of new collections coming up for Spring! If you recall, last year Seche began making color lacquer and started out with a bang. I loved their first collection, they were super pigmented and gorgeous. Now they are back with a 6 piece spring collection called Perfectly Poised, full of beautiful pastel and springtime shades. Some shimmers, some cremes....all perfectly pretty!
Hey guys! It's the start of Week Two of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge and now the prompts are getting more "interesting". Todays prompt is Still Life, which was something that always captivated me in art class. Via Wikipedia: A still lifeis a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).
Hi dudes! On Wednesday OPI released the new Brazil Collection, and today I have the entire deal for you to see! Brazil by OPI brings the colors of tropical rainforests and warm sandy beaches to nails and toes forSpring/Summer 2014. This new collection features a palette ranging from bright hues of red, pink, coral, orange and yellow to earthy tones of taupe, sienna, mocha and jungle green. In addition to 12 nail lacquers, the Brazil launch includes a set of four limited editionBeach Sandies Liquid Sand™ mini neon nail lacquers in bold purple, pink, turquoise and yellow shades with a textured, matte finish.
Hey hey hey! So today marks the last day of Week One of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge. This means the color theory prompts are over and more aggressive prompts will begin! When I put this challenge together I was super excited to really "challenge" myself and others with new types of prompts, but then when it comes time to DO them, I'm like WHAT WAS I THINKING?! But anyway - todays final color theory is Primary Colors, which are just about my favorite on the color wheel, something I just loved when I took art class in high school.
Today I have a GORGEOUS little collection to show you from new brand Renaissance Cosmetics. This is their Love...Everyday Collection, which features 4 beautiful girlie polishes that were inspired by Valentines Day but are all made to be worn any day of the year!
I'm not entirely sure why I did almost a full week of tape manis for the start of the challenge, I remember when I was doing them that I thought this was a huge time waster (the waiting for so much polish to dry) - but I do really love them all, and this one today is no exception. It reminds me of motorcycles.
Hey lovelies! I hope you're enjoying the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge posts so far! I'm totally excited about the amount of awesome ladies who have jumped on board the challenge and really brought it! After this week of Color Theory prompts, it will get progressively more difficult so I am excited to see what everyone does! Todays prompt is Contrast. Exciting! While mine is not contrast along the color wheel, I think it's safe to say it still works!
Two posts for you today! And I think you're really gonna be happy about hearing from me two times today! I had the extremely satisfying pleasure of swatching some polishes for the new brand Triple 7 Polish, and today I get to show them to you! The sweet and talented lady who runs T7P, Tahlia, sent me her newest Winter Collection (which drops tomorrow by the way) to share with you guys - so buckle in, its gonna be a holo hayride you won't soon forget!
I am so glad I edited todays photos before the weekend! We went out of town on Sunday and it was a NIGHTMARE of driving over 300 miles in pouring rain and fog - needless to say when today rolled around the last thing I wanted to do was edit photos or paint nails! So I'm glad this post was already ready, save for the writing! Travelling is a pain in the butt, it's no wonder I hardly ever do it! We did have fun outside of the driving though, I got some pretty new Urban Outfitters polishes and we saw an amazing show in a really cool theater (except the part where nasty beer was leaking down on us from the balcony!)
Here comes Day 3 of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge! As this publishes I am somewhere in Nashville enjoying a concert! Its been like FOREVER since I went to an actual concert and not just a show in a bar - plus its one of my oldest favorite bands, The Pixies. So needless to say, I had to schedule this because we will be home late, I hope we're having fun! Anyway none of that has to do with today, but you know, I have to have some different intros to these posts from time to time! Let's check out what todays prompt is and what I did!
Hello sweet babies! Today is Day 2 of the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Nail Art Challenge and today we're doing Jewel Tones as part of our Color Theory week. Jewel Tones are colors that resemble gemstones, or jewels, such as ruby, sapphire, emerald, etc... Let's go and see what we've cooked up!
