Happy Christmas!
Today is our big celebratory day around here. Tomorrow will be the day we sleep in real late and watch Netflix all day. Or maybe the Doctor Who special if we can get our hands on it! Today is also the day I show you some of my "other" favorites this year, starting with Indie polishes...which certainly continued to be a huge trend this year, if not THE trend of the year.
Today I've got my Number Nine polishes of the year to show you.
Remember, I'm doing 3 polishes per number, one indie, one mainstream and one texture.
And trust me, just because these are Number Nine on the list, hardly makes them any less special than those higher up the list!

It's another day of the Crumpets Nail Tarts' 33DC (aka the 33 Day Challenge...not to be confused with the Pepsi Challenge, and certainly not to be confused with omg I feel old for saying that).
Todays prompt is abstract.
And for the record, after yesterdays massive photo editing session to get the OPI Holiday Collection up to show you guys, I was too pooped to polish....so I kind of phoned this prompt in by showing you a mani I had originally done for last weeks Skittles theme, but scrapped it for something else...it's still worthy of a look though because it's a gorgeous polish!

When you see this mani, it may look familiar. I actually did it about 2 weeks ago and posted a small teaser of it around the web. But now here it is on the blog, where it counts, in all it's glory with a few extra pictures!
These are all of the polishes I used, PLUS not pictured is also Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Lick-O-Rich and the pink neon studs. This mani includes the new Neon Kit from OPI, but I will be reviewing that later this week in detail.
For this mani i did white base coat on pinky, index and thumb nails. The ring and middle are Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Lick-O-Rich (aka matte black texture polish)
On the pinky and index I took ALL THE NEONS and I did some brushstroking/splotching/layering. The thumb is a combination of glitters, Lynnderella Candy Blossom and Elevation Polish Huangshan (which is about my most favorite glitter EVER and she just announced it will be discontinued after her next restock, so don't miss that one)
Obviously, the ring and middle have then been studded with hot pink neon studs I got from Born Pretty Store, reviewed HERE.
The index and pinkie were then adorned with more of the textured polish in slices, which I made by painting the polish to some clear tape and then cutting triangles of it out after it was dry and sticking them to the nail. It reminded me of grip tape (the stuff on skateboards), so I called it a Grip Tape mani all over the net when I posted it, and it looked so convincing that I am fairly certain some people may have gone out and used actual Grip Tape on their nails. I hope it didn't rip anyones nail layers off if so, because its not something I would suggest, that stuff it SUPER sticky.
So there you go! Off to a bangin' start for Neon Week! Can't wait to see what the other ladies do! This is the list of everyone participating:
The main guy in this mani is this beautiful new addition to my life - Lynnderella Beside Herself. Look at all that pretty, doused in matte white. So.In.Love.
I paired this glitterbomb up with Sinful Colors Pistache (the green) and then I did an accent nail with some white polish and a splash of Barry M Papaya!
I really like the turnout here, it reminds me of juicy hybrid of a honeydew melon and a cantaloupe.
I shall dub thee: HONEYLOUPES!
How gorgeous is that blue shimmer in Beside Herself? Aye baby.

I'm pairing Lynnderella's BirdBrain Blue over Barry M Greenberry. Both of these have been huge lemmings of mine for AWHILE. Luckily I was finally able to grab this Lynn a few weeks ago, and then I also got this amazing surprise package from Debbie that included this Barry M! SWEET!
BirdBrain Blue is a soft blue jelly base loaded with aqua microglitters and then fun neon pieces in hearts, flowers, hex, diamonds, all kinds of awesome.
I wanted to pair this gorgeous polish over something a little more bold, as I normally see it matched up with sky and light pastel blues. I really think it looks gorgeous with this nice, bright mint greenish blue.
BirdBrain Blue did run pretty thin so I had to fish a LITTLE bit for glitters. But they aren't hard to find at all! This is just one coat over 2 coats of Greenberry and a coat of top coat.
Here is a great view of that aqua microglitter!

Just when you thought it was safe....
I've jumped from a week of Catrice polishes to this....
A Month of Indies!
Well - it's more like 26 Days of Indies!
I partake in a monthly challenge so 5 days of this month will be devoted to that, but the rest will be devoted to Indies - a different one every day!
Luckily I had 26 untried Indies!

Today I am pairing up some swampy goodness for you!
China Glaze Deviantly Daring and Lynnderella She Lived In A Swamp.

I have wanted this Lynnderella polish since I found out who Lynn was, over a year ago. A friend had it and I passed when she decided to get rid of it, and kicked myself when it seemed like they might become hard to get and all that silliness surrounded the brand for awhile. But then I got lucky when Elizabeth at Nail Polish Is My Crack offered to swap it to me!

This is a clear based polish full of greeny gold glitters of all varieties, bars, squares, micros, hex's...all green and nothin' but green!
I paired her up with Deviantly Daring because it seemed to remind me of The Creature From the Black Lagoon poster, all those cool blues and greens. Subsequently I was doing a dupe comparison on it and Sally Hansens Scarab. Turns out I lost those pics, but the polishes ARE identical.
Here is a macro on the nail.
I seriously am so happy to own this polish now - it rounds my Lynnderella collection out to a solid 3 polishes now! Hahah...the only complaint I do have about this polish is a few of the bar glitters did curl on my nail, some I was able to push down into the top coat, some I had to remove, some caused no problems at all!
This is a gritty glitter, it took a coat of Gelous and 2 coats of Top Coat to smooth.
Lynnderella polishes are currently ONLY available through their store on ebay and I think her current retail price is $23 per bottle.
Lynnderella - I Don't Mean Rhinestones

I alluded to something awesome coming today in yesterdays post of Ulta's Dance Teal Dawn.
I guess depending on your definition of awesome, this may or may not be it!
Despite your feelings on the matter of a certain polish maker, you gotta admit, some Lynnderella's are in a class all their own. Case in point:

This is 2 coats of I Don't Mean Rhinestones over 2 coats of Ulta Dance Teal Dawn and ONE coat of the new Julep Freedom Top Coat.
So much sparkle with hints of holographic delight!!!
I die.
Outdoor sunlight to see some of the holo that hides within this beauty.
^Outdoor/Shade^
Now this only marks the 2nd polish I have from the Lynnderella brand, but I love them both to death. There may be other polishes similar to this, but there is something about this that I just can't put my finger on that makes it so special, to me anyway.
When I wore it, I felt like I had teal colored Ruby Slippers on from the Wizard of Oz. I couldn't stop looking at my fingers.
On a side not - I used the new Julep Freedom Top Coat with this manicure and while I can't say anything about its longevity (sorry but even with this gorgeous polish on, i was still too tempted to remove it the same day)- I can tell you that it has a great consistency and covered/tamed this glitter in only one coat.
If you are interested in purchasing Lynnderella polishes, you can search her on ebay.
