![]() | Hello mon cheries! I have a Pink BCA Mani for you today that I used an exorbitant amount of pulchritudinous pink polishes on. Say that 10 times fast now ladies! Jolène (of Follow Gashin) and I are going to be sprinkling big fancy words into our blog posts to broaden our (mostly my) vocabularies and find new ways to talk about polish! |

Whimsical Week - Day 4 - Hatched!

Today I'm showing you 'Hatched' in my week-long Whimsical Week tour!
Yes, I have (sort of) swatched this polish before, but it was kind of under nail art and like earlier stuff I've done...not the best.
Sometimes swatching is boring, I know. SO every now and then I like to punch up a swatch with something different, so I'm going to show you Hatched in a 50/50 mani with a new polish I recently picked up and had been lemming for months!

I'm swatching Hatched alongside Orly Miss Conduct, a stunning pink scattered holo. The funny thing is that when I swatched Hatched for the blog before, I did it under nailart stamping using Manglaze Lesbihonest. And if I'm being 'honest' here, the two pinks looks almost identical.
Hatched is a heartbreakingly beautiful pastel yellow jelly-creme with pastel small and medium glitters. It is the perfect mix of everything you love about Spring.
I have yet to figure out what else would compliment Hatched as well as this shade of pink. I guess thats why I keep coming back to it - tell me they arent perfectly suited?!
These swatches show only one coat of each of these polishes! Can you believe that!?
I taped my bare nail halfway up and painted Miss Conduct. When that was dry, I taped directly over that half and painted the other half with Hatched, in one heavy coat and that's all I needed to cover any nail line up.
Finished with one coat of Out the Door topcoat for perfectly smooth digits.
One final shot with Matte top coat by Hard Candy. How glorious is the shimmer?
Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam is available strictly through her email system, which you can read more about on her Facebook page. She's just launched a gorgeous collection of Valentines Polishes, too and had extremely quick turnaround time!

| Macro shot of Peacocky. How could I not love a polish with this much teal glitter?! |
![]() |
| I've paired Peacocky with a Hot Pink Glow in the Dark polish from Hot Topic. As far as I can tell, it had no name. |
![]() |
| Here is Peacocky layered of the Hot Topic Pink - one coat of Peacocky and one coat of top coat! |

| There are 2 things I LOVE about the Black Cat Lacquer polishes. The first is that they are the perfect amount of density that you can use one coat for a perfect amount of glitter topping. |
![]() |
| The second thing I love about Black Cat Lacquers is that they are chunky without being a nuisance. They always smooth with a simple top coat. |

| Here you can see the nice combination of glitter shades in this polish. |
Peacocky is available for purchase right HERE in the Black Cat Lacquer Boutique. Don't forget to check out all of the other awesome polishes in there, so much to choose from!!

I have some SUUUUUUPER overdue swatch reviews to show you from Black Cat Lacquer.
Back in October, I received a nice little package from BCL, half of which was their Halloween Collection which I've shown you previously. The other 5 polishes I received were polishes from the core line and today one of those polishes is Party Monster.
One of my favorite movies, and made based on the story of a very intriguing person, the polish version of Party Monster is spot on! Lets have a look:

Party Monster went on sweet with 3 coats, shown here with top coat. Smooth and opaque, the formula on these polishes from Black Cat Lacquer are quite wonderful!!
Party Monster can be purchased HERE!
Welcome to Shimmer Week on Gnarly Gnails!
The lovely Cindy of Shimmer was kind enough to send me a bucketfull of her beautiful polishes to review.
Since I had so many to work with I decided to swatch them a bit differently. Each of the 10 polishes I have to show you this week will be done as 50/50 Manicures so you can see the base vs. over the base, to see how well these cover. I will walk through the review picture by picture. Let's get started.
Karen:

| Todays Shimmer polish is Karen - and I've paired her up with another pink beauty - Flutter by Sinful Colors. |
![]() |
| There is so much SPARKLE in a Shimmer polish, if you ask me, Shimmer is a vast understatement! |
![]() |
| My favorite parts of Shimmer polishes has come to be the surprise holo glitters and TONS of square glitters in every single polish! |
![]() |
| As for Flutter....she did ok. She was a little streaky, but the final look was worth it. |
Karen was a pleasure to swatch as I had expected at this point - the Shimmer brand is VERY consistent with every single polish you can expect great coverage and an easy peasy application! They do dry gritty, which is why each one I finish off with a coat of Gelous and then a standard Quick Dry top coat. Shimmer can be found on Etsy and they retail for $12 per bottle.

Lorene:
![]() |
| My Shimmer swatch partner for Lorene is Nails Inc Paris - a gorgeous pale pink with tons of silver shimmer. |
![]() |
| Touted as a Raspberry Melange glitter, this Macro of Lorene shows the complexity of this polish. TONS of complimentary colors and shapes abound - it's an alternative rainbow! |
![]() |
| The Nails Inc Paris really paired well with Lorene, I think it really brought out alot of the pinker qualities of the complex glitter concoction. |
![]() |
| Lorene is shown here over 2 coats of Paris. This polish was a dream to apply, can't you just tell by looking at it? |
![]() |
| Every Shimmer polish I have tried thus far is highly packed with glitters and an unparalelled formula. You will not find another brand of glitter polish that applies this easily. |
![]() |
| This mani was achieved using a strip of tape on each nail and 1 thick coat of Lorene over the pink base color. |
![]() |
| The Nails Inc polish, Paris, was also a well-formulated polish - 2 coats, no problems! |
Shimmer Lorene was pure perfection in formulation and color. This was another favorite of mine to apply - but you know me and pink!! This is one of the more bombed-out full on glitters. Shimmer can be found on Etsy and they retail for $12 per bottle.
Every swatch of Shimmers this week has been finished off with 1 coat of Gelous + 1 coat of Jordana Quick Dry Top Coat.
