When seemingly good ideas go bad...

I was perusing through my inspirations this morning trying to come up with an idea. I had so many in my head I decided to just pick a random one. So I saw something that sparked an idea and that idea went south so quickly!
This is Savvy Deep Amethyst for the base color, topped with Finger Paints Motley flakie. Then I stamped using a Konad plate (sorry I forget the # right now) using Kleancolor Metallic Jungle.
Ugh. Maybe its the fact I used a matte tc? Maybe the flakies just shouldnt be so close in color to the stamping color...because they totally made the stamping look blurry/bumpy when it isn't because they run into it and look the same color under most light. Oh well...

And just for the record - this weeks challenge is Newspaper Mani. I'm avoiding it. I may do it, but I don't want to/am not inspired to. I havent seen ONE newspaper mani I've liked. If you know of one, please comment! Thx for looking!

So...I joined a group on Facebook, Adventures in Stamping. They also do a weekly challenge involving, STAMPS. My new love. So now I have 2 challenges a week to keep me busy. And right when I start back at my old job.
Anyway - this weeks challenge over there was to use a plate ending in 7. I'm new to stamping and only own 6 plates, luckily I had one that did end in 7, Konad M57. So this is what I did with that:

Its stamped in WnW Black and the thumb blings are Konad M14. Under is Sally Hansen Big Money.
Now on to the bonus! Well...I have a rad boyfriend..whenever I get new polishes, if we are driving, he will always paint his nails with them for me so I can see them right away. His son also loves me to paint his nails. So I guess this is a good obsession of mine because it's widely accepted! So the other night when he came home from work I was doing my nails and he started poking around in my polishes, Ooohing and Aaaahing at all of the glitters. Next thing I know he's painted half a hand with different colors! So I started showing him some of the flakies and what not and, well, here is what happened:
I added the glitters and an extra coat of SV to get another day out of my mani since I had to work and couldnt change it.
Its Nubars Black Polka Dot layered with White Polka Dot - I think of it as Poor Mans Connect the Dots!

This is Week 4 of the Weekly Challenge. This is also my first week doing it!
I'm not very "Mad for Plaid" - but I do love Argyle. So I figured it was close enough to work for this weeks challenge: Plaid.
This was my first time using stamping on my own nails. I practiced when I got the plates on one hand of my boyfriends...so I am actually pretty proud of how well these turned out. They're nowhere near perfection, but they aren't half bad either!
This is Revlon Metallic over Butter London The Black Knight, using Konad Plate M60.

I've had a challenge list sitting on my desktop for about a week now that I conveniently set out of my mind. When I first got it I was gung-ho to do some cool challenges and really sink my teeth into this new passion of mine. But then I just sorta forgot about it in lieu of trying all the loads of new polishes I'd been collecting.
But the time has come - I feel like I'm getting overwhelmed with the amount of polish I've started collecting and when I pull out my drawers to do a mani I just don't even know where to start. So here's the challenge - its a weekly, which will work out good for me since I only do my nails about 3-4 times a week.
Of course, I'm starting with Plaid, which seems pretty difficult!

I was feeling a little unmotivated and lazy about nail ideas today...so I decided to give a go to some very popular Galaxy Nails. Seems they are all over the web right now and I figured it seemed easy enough...I was kinda wrong. I can only recall what I used on Try #2 so that is what I'll list at the end.
Try #1
Try #1
Try #2
Used:
China Glaze Sea Spray
CND - Hyde in the Dark
NYC Pier 17
OPI - Russian Navy
NYC - French White Tip
Milani - Jewel FX Silver
This was using China Glaze Electric Pineapple with Acrylic Paint in Red and then Hard Candy Matte-Ly in Love Top Coat (loooove this top coat).
Welcome to my new and never improved blog.
I'm an ex-makeup artist turned nail obsessionista.
I was bitten by the bug in late December 2011 and it's been chaos in my brain ever since.
I hope this place will be a place you can come to find reviews, swatches, nail art and anything else nail related that I can wrap my brain around! So stay tuned - I have big plans for it! Thanks for visiting!

p.s. There will be nail pics coming shortly, unfortunately all of my previous photos have a different watermark and I can't edit them!
