When I posted the Carrie Underwood Collection from Nicole by OPI last week, I was asked how similar it was to a couple of polishes. I looked for the polishes I had that as closely resembled Backstage Pass as possible, and here we go!

Today I have another in the 'Put Your Dupes Up' Series! These always seem to be a big hit with you all.
Today's featured fight is A England's Excalibur Revamped v. China Glaze's Gossip Over Gimlets. Both fairly new polishes that seemed nearly identical when swatches of them started popping up. Let's venture inside and see what the outcome is!

 | Remember when I used to post Put Your Dupes Up?! It's been awhile - I have a few coming up, and that includes today! It even has a fancy new look to fit the blog. Let's see what we have in the ring! |
Todays PYDU is not a winner take all comparison but instead a look at some purple hued polishes with gold(ish) shimmers. There are quite a few on the market these days, and I thought I'd show you 5 I pulled out of storage recently and how they differ, as well as relate.
Here are todays contenders:
Ulta - Lav-Ish
Zoya - Zara
Pure Ice - Purple Reign
Nails Inc - Clifford Street
Pure Ice - Taxi
As you can see - they are all super different.
Ulta Lav-Ish is a taupe/lavender with a gold shimmer.
Zoya Zara is a truer lavender with yellowish/pink shimmer.
Pure Ice Purple Reign is a plum with golden shimmer.
Nails Inc Clifford Street is a dark dusty purple with gold shimmer.
Pure Ice Taxi is the only one that flashes a more green shimmer than gold, and has a violet base.
All of these swatched at 2 coats, with the exception of Clifford Street which was just one coat.
So if you think you don't need em all, you're wrong.
Unless you just don't like purple, in which case, we can still be friends!

Let's get this Matte Top Coat Comparison underway!
To conclude...
If you want a flat, matte finish, your money is on:
Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love (Discontinued)
And if you want a more satin, semi-matte finish:
I found all of the flat top coats to be pretty much identical, and surprisingly enough, I found the same to be true of the more semi-matte formulas to also be near dupes of each other. At least all close enough that you dont need all 6 of these. But I do!

Todays Contenders are Julep Petra versus Pure Ice Iced Merlot
Looking pretty similar in the bottle, no?
These two polishes are a red raspberry crelly base with pink and blue shimmer, that primarily flash pink on the nail.
I turned my fingers so many different directions and found NO differences in these whatsoever.
Furthermore, formulas were exactly the same, though the Julep was slightly slower to dry - giving the HUGE advantage to Pure Ice for being twice the size and 1.99 vs Julep $14 price tag.
Each show two coats and one coat of top coat. The index finger is slightly darker because it has a third coat due to it drying so slow i bumped it!
We have a WINNER - Pure Ice Iced Merlot!

| As close as they look in the bottle, it's pretty apparent that there is not one dupe in this dusty bunch of blues! |

| I absolutely LOVE the Pastel and Catrice Blues!! |

| Each of these polishes shows 2 coats with no top coat. The Catrice Nautica is SOOO shiny! I love the hidden shimmer in Pastel #11, the dustiness of Rain Storm and the gorgeous glass fleck in Denim Dash. I can't even pick a clear winner, they all win on their own merits! |

Starting Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen Theme Week...today we are doing a comparison of some blues in my stash...

| We are going to be comparing these polishes! From left to right we have: Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire, Spa Ritual Meditate on This, Sally Hansen Laser and Sinful Colors Lagoon |

| All of these swatches are without top coat. |
As you can see/read, the Sally Hansen Laser and Spa Ritual Meditate on This are both sheer, needing 3 coats for each one. They are pretty similar in color as well, the Spa Ritual polish shows a bit more glass fleck and more purple lean. I prefer it to Laser.
Sinful Colors Lagoon is an art striper polish, but think outside the box, these polishes work just as good for a full mani. This one has the most purple, its basically a duochrome, but it is slightly frosty so be careful with application to cut down on brushstrokes. Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire is the big winner in terms of opacity and overall application. The Kleancolor Metallics line are great for stamping too. Except for white, the Metallic White sucks.
I could be Green with Envy - who knows?

Sorry for the weirdly placed post here...
Essentially, I had something different set up for today, but my card reader is being difficult and the pics I needed to edit for today are on my card, basically I was too lazy to restart my computer to get to them, so instead I worked on a different post for today and I'll show you that other one tomorrow.
So...greens. I have a lot of this color.
It's weird how color in the bottle look so similar but prove to be a lot different on the nail, aint it?
Well, check out some of these greens and see what you think:

First off - all of these swatches are 2 coats of each color with no top coat.
Glittering Garland and Garland are very similar in color but GG has a bigger glass fleck, making it more brighter/glowy. Garland is darker, almost a blackened green.
Rainforest seemed close to GG but upon swatching, you can tell it's much warmer toned with an almost olive glass fleck. Looks very similar to CG Zombie Zest so I'll have to compare those as well.
The odd man out here is clearly Emerald City which has a bluer tone and a different finish. Not really matte or suede, more satin finish, cool though, and I got him for a buck at the flea market, so a good find nonetheless.
