Welcome to Day 3 of the 30/31 Day Challenge - Today it's Yellow Day.

Alot of ladies and bloggers have a love/hate relationship with yellow. It's a hard color to wear, whether it is clothing or nail polish (or even hair!) - and when it comes to polish, yellow is usually plagued with problematic application.

I personally love yellow. For being kind of a dark person by nature, I love super bright colors like yellow and hot pink.

So it's no wonder that today is one of my favorite days in this challenge.

Let's see what I did...

I made a jelly sandwich! If you don't know - this is when you layer a sheer or opaque polish on the bottom, then a glitter, then a sheer polish on top. Here I used Color Club Almost Famous as my underpantalones, then a layer of Butter London's Tart with a Heart and then I finished with 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann's Yellow Brick Road, which is a wicked awesome super sheer yellow jelly polish.

I can't get over how juicy and glittery this is. Tart with a Heart is a must have for glitter lovers. It looks awesome on it's own, but still very cool here under another polish.

This mani also has a coat of Out the Door top coat for added juice-tastic-ness.

How can you not LOVE yellow?!?!

Hey peepeepeeps!

Happy Tuesday, no post from me yesterday, was feeling lazy and tired - its a day I gotta get up super early and it really did me in yesterday, it was all I could do to even take these pics for todays post, and I don't love em! I much prefer the look of my photos under my light - these were all taken outside in the sun to catch the underlying holo shimmer/glitter of Atlantis, but it really wasn't worth the trouble.

Yeah - Jelly Sammys!

If you don't know what this is - it's essentially a layer of polish, a glitter and then a jelly polish (something colored but somewhat sheer to get the underlayers to show through).

So I used China Glaze Atlantis as my base color, then I put Candy Lacquer's White Wedding over that and topped it with a jelly franken I made over the weekend specifically for this challenge.

Das Jelly. Don't even ask what's in it - no idea!

Being the obvious teal lover that I am, I was kind of disappointed in myself that I didn't even own a teal jelly polish. I really want Zoya Frida but I just don't have disposable income right now to get it. So I took a VERY old jelly polish I concocted 6 or so months ago and added a bunch of blues and teals to it to get this. It's much darker in person, I'll have to layer it alone soon to show it off. It's got a pretty shimmer in it from some glitters in the blue polishes and some green eyeshadow pigment I added to it.

What's for Lunch? A Post Apocalyptic Studded Jelly Sandwich!

I was recently contacted by KKCenterHk to review some products of my choosing. I've really been interested in 3d nail art lately so one of the things I chose in my little review package were some white square studs. I liked these for 2 reasons - they're WHITE and they're bigger than the normal studs most nail art supply houses carry.

Here is how they look in the package:

You get approx. 100 per package. They are 4mm square, hard white plastic. They have a beveled edge and are kind of pearly.

They retail for USD $4.90 per package.

And here is how I used them in my nail art for today!

This manicure consists of the following components:

Base - Essie Barefoot & Topless

Next Layer - Julep Mila

Next Layer - Wet n Wild 2% Milk

Next Layer - Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday

Next Layer - Hard Candy Matte Top Coat

Then I did another layer of Matte top coat and applied my studs with a pick'r upper tool I got from Sally Beauty.

I love the size and the color of these studs SOO much. Though for sure they would work best on longer, flatter nail beds. But still pretty cool with my nubbers!

We stamp on Sundays in this group, and while I realize it is not quite Sunday yet in my neck of the woods, I have been sitting on my hands not showing this mani for over 24 hours and it's been KILLING me!I loved it to pieces. And it even got quite a few compliments at work which doesn't happen too much.
There were two different ways I shot this mani - because the first few steps of it I thought were kinda cool - a black & white jelly sammich!

This was 1 coat of Fingerpaints Black Expressionism, followed by 1 coat of Sally Hansen Glass Slipper (an awesome white/silver flakie style glitter) followed by one coat of Femme Couture Black (it's super sheer dark grey on the first coat, perfect to lightly go over the flakie!) SO here it is after those three layers and a layer of Seche Vite so it would dry fast for my next steps.

Awww yeah. Those steps were a white splatter using acrylic paint with a wet paintbrush and flicking it onto my nails. The thumb and ring were stamped with Konad Special White Polish and a Cheeky plate (sorry, forget which right now) and then topped with Matte top coat.

I totally love how you can just see the hint of flakie under the black. I love dimension like that.

Trudging Along and feeling BLUE.....

Adventures in Stamping over on Facebook has got me in a tizzy this week. This weekends challenge is BLUE. Everything on the nail has to be blue. So of course, 2 things would occur in my brain for this. 1 is that this seems easy enough. 2 is that of all the colors I own, blue is the most forgotten about. Literally, I must have 6 blues.
Anyway - this was to be my look, but was not wildly successful because once again I learned that (for me) glitter and stamping do not go together.
This was using Revlon Royal as a base with Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe on top. Stamped with Kleancolor Metallic Jungle and a random Konad flower stamp. The stamp not only got lost in the glitter, but the mani looked so glossy and gorgeous before I stamped it. You really lose the gorgeous glitter that is ATU when you stamp over it. For sure I will be using that Royal/ATU combo again though! Sigh.

Needless to say, I am not entering this into the challenge. I re-did my challenge and even though I had a big issue - I managed to "make it work" and will post THAT later this weekend.
