We're getting down to the wire on the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Week. Hopefully you've seen the other ladies flaunting their pinks this week - I have been sooo busy this week I haven't seen any (or anything else) - so I'm hoping at the end we have some links I can send you to to see them all. Anyway - tomorrow is the last day, and today is not, so let's see what I did!
Welcome BACK to the BACK IN TIME segment of the blog!
This is where we go back and re-do old manicures. The first of the month we do our own, the 15th of the month we do the other persons.
This challenge consists of myself, Smashley and Debbie - however, Debbie has moved on from this challenge so now it's just me and the Smasher!
Let's see what mani of hers I recreated...shall we?
Here is Ashleys on the left, and my re-imagining on the right. She actually based hers off of the following scrapbooking cover, so I took a little from that as well as her previous design:
So I had the idea to do some houndstooth in this, but omg...three fails and I gave up.
I made a few changes, for one I switched up 2 florals for a combination of the 2 into one. Then I also did this in neon instead. And matte.
I used a neon pink from POP Beauty (the name isnt on the bottle since I bought it in a duo of lip balm and polish, but I think it may be called Pinkest), the neon green is I'm With the Lifeguard by China Glaze. Then black and white.
I am proud to say that even though the many fails of houndstooth are gone, I freehanded this whole thing. First florals I've done that I actually like, too.
Today I've brought back Monkey See Monkey Do time, it's been off the blog a week or two while other things were going on or I was procrastinating it. But I found some time over the weekend to get a few mani's ahead and THIS is one I'm super proud of. Except for the couple of smudges I got from top coating, this is pretty good stuff...
This was fairly easy to achieve. I painted white areas on my nail, then went back and painted any unpainted parts with orange, then i sponged on both colors in my normal gradient method to blend the two colors together. Then I had to go in a bit haphazardly and just sponge around with two colors until it was blended more! Then I top coated and used my black striping polish to add the tiger stripes!
Used Julep Kate, Sinful Colors Citrine and Black Striping Polish (no idea where I got it, sorry)
^And this was my inspiration^
Unfortunately this person didn't watermark their photo and my pin on Pinterest of this doesn't have an origin link! But I know I just pinned it in the last week or two - if anyone knows who it belongs to, please let me know!
Here are the other fabulous ladies doing the Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays:
I normally have these scheduled and ready to go for days in advance. But sometimes Mondays come around and we all have the day off and I just don't want to do anything but lay in bed and catch up on my blog reading. I didn't get this mani done until this morning!
But I'm not going to bore you with my apologies for not sticking to my own schedule because you don't care, let alone notice if I'm running behind! It's just my own spastic control issues!
So it's Teal Tuesday. Yes, it is! Our challenge this week was Matte/Glossy. I even voted for this one and yet I spent the whole week or so planning in my head what to do. It still ended up kind of a fail in my book because this wasn't my plan, but a quick backup when Plan A went super south.
I tried to do a matte to glossy gradient but it just wouldn't photograph! So I ended up clear coating the whole thing and then zebra striping with a matte top coat.
This mani used Pastel 11 and Catrice Return of the Space Cowboys with Hard Candy Matte TC.

It's Monday again. Do you know what that means yet?
Well...every Monday me and a bunch of other awesome ladies take the challenge to re-create a mani we've liked on the interweb somewhere.
Mine today is not really one mani but rather multiple mani's I have seen inspired by Betsey Johnson. I took some ideas from different mani's I liked and sorta did my own twist on those.
Colors used:
Sephora by OPI - XOX Betsey
Sephora by OPI - It's My Pink
OPI - Pink Friday

It's good ole Stampin' Sunday around these parts...let's get to stamping!
This weeks challenge at Adventures in Stamping was Unnatural Animals. Pink Cats, Purple Dogs, you know the drill.
I opted for a green and white gradiated zebra with pink stripes. Not too unnatural, right?
Here's how I do my gradient, nice and messy like.
I'm not into all that new fangled taping of the surrounding skin. I can't be bothered with that kind of preparation! Plus I know I'm gonna have to clean up my cutes after stamping anyway so I just do it the hard way...
So let's see - My base was a greyed white polish I frankened and Julep Leah sponged onto all 5 nails. Top coated. Then stamped the zebra stripes on with Milani Fast Fuchsia.
Thumb nails have opalescent microbeads.
PS - I just wanted to take a moment to send prayers to all the friends and family of the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch. I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys (yes, I am THAT old), had the pleasure of seeing them perform quite a few times and am really bummed that he is no longer on this planet making amazing music and videos for the world to enjoy. God bless ya kid.
(this isnt an official video, but it's pretty damn funny)
I've totally been in the gradient mood lately. I guess now that I found a technique that is close to foolproof for me, I want to do it all the time!
I wish I could remember who it was, but yesterday I saw this gorgeous set of sunset pictures someone posted on their blog by an artist. They totally inspired me to do something that was teal/green/orange inspired. This was pretty close to what I had in my head.
First up is our cast:
Konad Special White for stamping, OPI Cuckoo For this Color, Sally Hansen Lickety Splity Lime and Fingerpaints Pop Rock Pink.
Another Sunday at Adventures in Stamping is here and this week its the theme "3 Colors" - Interpreted however you like! I chose this idea here, using China Glaze Aquadelic, Fingerpaints Black Expressionism to stamp the zebra and stripe/dots and OPI Alpine Snow for the white base!
Ok...today is Sunday and it's a new stamping challenge over at AIS.
This week's challenge was ALL BLUE - and if you read my previous post, you know this isn't my first attempt.
This mani was so cute UNTIL i dry dropped on it and the residue fogged it up! It was glorious and matte and you could see all the zebra goodness....THIS is the good hand:
THIS is the bad hand:
So apparently...I didn't know that when this happens you can just add another coat and it'll go away, so I added a super sheer green glitter jelly franken to the top just to see what would happen. It made the fog go away but it made the awesome matte/metallic look go away too =(
