Today is Thursday, which means it's time for another installment of Golden Oldie Thursdays put on by the Crumpets Nail Tarts group on Facebook.
If you aren't in that group I highly suggest you get up in there, some great challenges are conceived over there!
Anyway - enough of that biz - let's check out todays G.O.T. - Blue!

Digit-al Dozen September Spectacular - Blue!

 | Happy Monday and welcome to something UBERSPESH!! Today the Digit-al Dozen is embarking on a 12 Day Celebration of Nail Art! We will be revisiting each of the 12 themes we have attacked this past year! Today's theme is "Blue" from Last September...let's see it! |
 | Hey guys!!! Sorry no post yesterday....the rain came down and my head broke loose, so I spent the day not being online more or less. I swear it's only been in the last 2 or 3 years my brain cannot stand any change in weather or pressure! So in appreciation of the rain - I have a blue blue blue swatch for you you you!! |
So today I'm showing you Cu Blue by Girly Bits! It's a STUNNING cobalt blue jelly with copper microglitters. Shown here at 3 coats, no top coat.
Despite the deep color of this polish, it does apply a little sheer/patchy. I think in the future I would layer it over a similar blue.

So I love this polish. Like SO SO SO SO much.
Especially matte.
I am quite addicted in the past year or so to deep blues with silver and copper glitters/shimmers. They remind me of galaxies, and deep dark sea water...which is kind of strange because I hate the ocean.
Regardless, if you like off the wall blue polishes I would highly recommend this one!

Well...the title of this post should bring on a hefty bit of spam I'm sure!
Anyway - happy Saturday!
Today's manicure is something fun and fairly easy.
I picked up an awesome find at Michaels last week...their scrapbooking section seems inundated with items that can double for nail art supplies, and I grabbed up some bronze metal square studs that some in 2 or 3 different sizes.
They do however come in a bizarre tube that looks like a lipgloss tube and then you open it to find out is IS a lipgloss tube. Complete with applicator wand. Wtf moment for sure.
So that cuts down on about half of the product they COULD have fit in there....oh well. Good for spur of the moment purchase..since most nail studs you have to buy overseas and wait a small lifetime to receive. Hopefully it helps someone out there!

On to the business!
The hardest part of this is attaching your studs, which is really more about patience than skill or difficulty. I suck at patience.
I started with a dark blue creme as my base.
Then I freehanded color halfway up my nail with a blue to purple duo chrome polish and added top coat.
While the top coat is still wet I grabbed by studs by wetting a small dotting tool to pick up the studs and place them on my nail. The larger studs wouldn't pick up so I used my fingers which smudged my polish a little.
After all studs are applied, added a nice thick layer of top coat to finish up!

30/31 Day Challenge: Day 31 - Recreate a Mani

I did it! I made it through the Challenge and I didn't call in sick once!
So - Happy Halloween Month - this mani should kick off the spookiest month of the year with a bang!
Also - TODAY I hit 100k views on this blog - thank you guys so much for showing any interest in my blog - it means the world to me!
Today we are recreating someone else's manicure. For todays I chose to mimick a design by Astrowifey - an amazing nail artist. I'm recreating her Skull & Bones Manicure.
So this Challenge was a blast (mostly) - I'm glad I got through the entire thing without missing any days, thats a big deal for me.
For the last time, I emplore you to go visit some of these awesome ladies who did the challenge alongside me:

| I love these studs - I now have them in gold and silver of this size and larger gold ones too - they go with so many things! They are the perfect size for any nail, silver metal with hollow backs and they lay really nice and flat! |

| So for the pinky (far left) I put on all kinds of silver stones in varying sizes and shapes over a silver metallic polish (Essie No Place Like Chrome) |

| My thumb has the Born Pretty Silver Square Studs along with silver caviar microbeads I picked up from Michaels crafts store some time ago. |

| My index finger was done similarly to my pinky, only over a blue base and only on the top half of the nail. |

| My ring finger has silver hex glitter gradating from full nail to half the nail. Then my middle finger has a skull I stamped on and then I added the crossbones with a striper polish and a dotting tool, then I added little silver rhinestones to his eyes! |

Welcome to the last day of Shimmer Week on Gnarly Gnails!
I've saved MY favorite for last.
The lovely Cindy of Shimmer was kind enough to send me a bucketfull of her beautiful polishes to review.
Since I had so many to work with I decided to swatch them a bit differently. Each of the 10 polishes I have to show you this week will be done as 50/50 Manicures so you can see the base vs. over the base, to see how well these cover. I will walk through the review picture by picture. Let's get started.

| Here we are at the last Shimmer of the Week. And it's a Shimmer of the Week alright! My hands down favorite pick of the 10 I have swatched - Cristina! I've got her paired up with a gorgeous polish by Butter London - Bluey! |

| Cristina is described as Deep Forest Green with a hint of Red and Fuchsia Glitter. It really gave me the impression of a green on the verge of teal...so you had to know, amazing... |

| Of course, layering this polish over a teal polish such as Bluey, will really pull the blue from it. The red and pinks and green all compliment each other so perfectly in this polish. |
 |
| This polish, along with the other 9 polishes I tested from Shimmer this week, was perfection to apply. If I could wear these polishes every day, I would! |

| This is one thick coat of Cristina over 2 coats of Bluey. |

| Look at the smoothness of this glitter after top coat! Stunner! |

| Butter London Bluey is a new favorite. I recently got this during a special promo that Coterie had for bloggers to introduce their site before it was launched. Otherwise, I'd have never known the awesomeness of this polish. |

| Can words really even describe the perfection you see before your eyes?! |
So here we are at our very last Shimmer swatching. I feel a certain sadness, but I am leaving you with my favorite today and a special Shimmer feature later today!
As you can tell, Cristina was one I was partial to from the moment I laid eyes on it - but you never know, the bottle to the nail will sometimes leave you disappointed. Obviously, there is not one disappointing thing about a Shimmer polish as I have come to learn.
Basically - you need them all.
For this weeks swatches, I have finished off each manicure with a coat of Gelous and then a standard Quick Dry top coat. Shimmer can be found on Etsy and they retail for $12 per bottle.

| Dusty Blue, Copper and Turquoise Melange glitter is how Cindy of Shimmer describes this polish. Of course there is gold, silver and holo glitter at the LEAST included in this! |

| This is one heavy coat of Natalie over 2 coats of All Hail the Queen. |

| All Hail the Queen by Butter London was also a dreamy polish to wear and apply - a must have for everyone I believe! |
Every Shimmer I have tried so far this week applies so easy and dries quickly. They do dry gritty, which is why each one I finish off with a coat of Gelous and then a standard Quick Dry top coat. Natalie is a stunning blue glitterbomb that you should not miss out on. Shimmer can be found on Etsy and they retail for $12 per bottle.
