Hello!!
I've been totally random in my posting the last few days. Truth be told I had all last week posted before the week started, which gave me a week to get ahead, but instead I got lazy, got busy and even got a little sick.
So I spent that time taking a nail vacation and it got me out of my rhythm!
Today I'm showing you a mani from back when I was doing Catrice week, here are two polishes that didn't make the cut that week.

Catrice - I Wear My Sunglasses At Night

Catrice - Have An Ice Day
I started with a base of Slate and then I added Have An Ice Day. Then I used I Wear My Sunglasses At Night on the top and bottom of the nail and used a dotting tool to hide the line between the two colors.
And Voila! A strangely weird doily is born!
Its the last day of Catrice Week on the blog - In my mass need to use my untried polishes I managed to get through almost all of my untried Catrices.
In total I used up 12 of them, plus 2 more I haven't shown here and I have 2 left in the pile. So wow - good job!
For the last day I decided to go with something simple but stunning, and since I think I've worn a flakie polish like twice since I started blogging, it just felt right today.

For the last day I decided to go with something simple but stunning, and since I think I've worn a flakie polish like twice since I started blogging, it just felt right today.
Here we have Pimp My Shrimp and Shake It! Flake It!
A base of 3 coats of Pimp My Shrimp, which is a juicy jelly peach. There is still slight nail line showing, but its still a gorgeous jelly that would be really pretty with some chunky glitter!
On top I applied 2 coats of Shake It! Flake It! which is the fiery type of flakey that shifts from orange to gold to green.
I finished this mani with a matte top coat - I always love how it seems to stop the flakey in time and only show one or two of its faces.
Its so fierce and fiery!

I'd like to thank my awesome swap buddy Angi, who has gotten me about 97% of my Catrice collection, which is only available in parts of Europe.
Day 4 of Catrice Week sees a couple more greens!
So todays greens are Sold Out Forever (2nd version, which barely is even a green, but since the 1st version is much greener, I plop this in the green category) and It's Rambo No. 5
For fun, I decided to make some zigzag decals instead of tape to nail method. This is much cleaner looking if you have the extra time. Basically, you paint your polish onto wax paper or plastic, once its dry you peel it off and cut your strips with pinking sheers or craft scissors.
I started with a base of Sold Out Forever, an icy mint with a super subtle but gorgeous shimmer, which you certainly won't be seeing in these pictures, sorry!
My cutout strips were done with It's Rambo No. 5 - after my base dried, I applied these and trimmed to fit.
I then applied a generous coat of top coat to seal them on.
Any residual edges can be cleaned up with your normal cuticle cleanup method, the strips are polish and removal is exactly the same!

Got home late Sunday night from a little overnight trip we took to Illinois. It was a good time, we never go anywhere and have a junko car, so we had a blast getting away and driving in my boyfriends moms car for the weekend, it was like driving a fancy spaceship. But now we are home and I feel like I'm STILL trying to catch up from it, sleep-wise. My boyfriend won $400 at the casino while we were there, so not only did he buy me a new laptop, but he also bought me some running shoes, a wicked awesome doctor who shirt AND some of my wishlist nail polishes!! He done alright this weekend....
And on a sidenote - I HATE Windows 8. bleck.
As Day 3 hits on Catrice Week, here is some pink for ya. Along with, yet another Million Styles Top Coat!
For this one I did something a little different, which I will explain as I go along.

Today I'm using Holo Que Tal and Wrapped Around My Finger
Wrapped Around My Finger is a gorgeous dusty pink creme and it was the base of this manicure. 2 coats.
Holo Que Tal is a shimmer base full of pink to orange shifting particles and it is what I used over my pink base.
While the polish was still tacky, I took a business card and dug ridges into the polish to create the quilts. I had been thinking for awhile about how I could achieve a quilted design without using striping tape (too thick) or freehanding it (too skillful!) - so this was it!
After I had all of my quilts in check, I added top coat one nail at a time and added my gold bullions/microbeads to each intersection, then one more coat of top coat!
Back at Day 2 of Catrice Week and today I'm showing you a couple of green shades I have yet to try out.
Here we have King of Greens, Take it Mint and Million Dollar Baby
For this lovely mani, I started with a base of King of Greens then i sponged between it and Take It Mint until I had achieved the splotchiness that suited me best.
Then I applied one coat of Million Dollar Baby, a gorgeous gold glitter in clear base.
Finished off with a matte top coat - this would make a nice little St Pattys Day mani.

Todays players are No Snow Petrol, Godfather of Pearl and George Blueney
So for this, I started with a base of No Snow Petrol, a gorgeous aqua/teal with a bluish/purple iridescence.
Then I added Godfather of Pearl over the top to give it some funky shimmer! Godfather of Pearl is a clearish base chock full of shimmers of the blue and green variety.
Then I taped off a cross design on my ring finger and sponged on George Blueney and topped it with some more of the Godfather of Pearl.

Well it has been a hot minute since I did a tutorial!
So here is something I thought up in my crazy brain a week or so ago, and since I had some swatching to do and couldn't get to it right away, I decided to get it prepped and make it into a full on tutorial!
So what is a split splatter?
Essentially this manicure is consisting of 3 different nail art technique.
So here is something I thought up in my crazy brain a week or so ago, and since I had some swatching to do and couldn't get to it right away, I decided to get it prepped and make it into a full on tutorial!
So what is a split splatter?
Essentially this manicure is consisting of 3 different nail art technique.
- DIY Nail Decals - painting polish and designs onto a plastic or wax paper surface and peeling them off and re-sticking them to your nail.
- Splatter Manicures - splattering paint all over your nails like a Jackson Pollock painting.
- Tape Manicures - cutting tape into shapes and polishing the remaining space of nail to make a design
Seems complicated? Nope.
Lets get started!
THIS is what we are going after today:
This is a 3 Color Manicure with endless color combo possibilities. And trust me when I say, it really is so easy even a caveman can do it!
You will need 3 Polishes. Generally, 2 polishes and a black or white, but like I said, the possibilities are endless!
For this I have used two colors by Catrice - Miss Piggy Reloaded and Reggaeton. Try and choose colors that aren't Jelly's or lack opacity. When you splatter, you want those colors to pop.
Now the next step is easy but I did not photograph it. Get a piece of plastic that is somewhat thick, like a freezer bag thickness, or some wax/parchment paper. I used parchment paper.
Paint two stripes, about an inch wide (more depending on how long your nails are) and about 6 or 7 inches in length, one in each of your main colors (here, it would be the pink and brown). Paint each shade with a couple of coats, to make sure it is nice and opaque and also so it is easier to remove.
Now include your third/splatter color, and with all three of the bottles open you will begin splattering. For the brown patch of polish I took my pink and white and splattered by dipping a straw in the polish bottle and then blowing the color out onto the brown. Then I repeated this step with the brown and white polish over the pink patch.
Allow these to dry overnight or several hours. You have many coats piled up and it will take a good amount of time for this to try.
Once it is fully dry, peel it up from your surface to get this:
Here is a close up to see in comparison to my hand, how big I made my polish strip.
Next you will take each of these strips and cut them into vertical stripes, just wide enough to fit on half of your nail vertically, roughly 1/2 an inch.
Now, it's up to you if you want to have a color foundation on your nail when you start. I bypassed that as I figured these were opaque enough.
Whether you have a color on or not, allow it to dry and then you will need to use a top coat (or basecoat if you skipped the base color option). Paint one nail with top/base coat at a time. You don't need to allow dry time, once you apply that coat, take one strip (the pink) and apply it to your nail and move it til it's edge is in the center of your nail. Then take the other colored strip (the brown) and do the same, trying to get as close to the edge of the pink side, better to overlap it if needed than to leave a gap in it. Here are all 5 nails with the strips placed on them.
After you have gotten all nail strips applied, your next step is going to be to remove all of that excess polish.
What worked best for me was simply to pull down on the parts that went over my nail tip and rip em off! Then all of the parts that were around the cuticle - easy peasy! Just take your usual clean up brush dipped in acetone and sweep em away - its polish and it really is as easy as cleaning up your regular manicure.
Now is the time you want to make sure all of your seams are pushed down nice and good.
Now you may notice a few patches where maybe you removed to much of the polish decal during cleanup. No sweat - take any or all of your three polish colors and just go back in with the brush they come with and add some dots or sweeps over those bare spots! You can even dot or sweep over the seams to blend the splatters together some and hide any edges.
Now that everything is filled in and cleaned up and should at this point be fairly dry (if your fill in spots were thick, wait a good time for them to dry) - just add your top coat. If you have Gelous, I suggest using it just to spackle any seams up and then finish with a quick dry top coat. But if not, no worries! The seams add to the fact that this is also a tape manicure!

Black Cat Lacquer - Doomsday

So to start this post, Sabrina from Black Cat Lacquer is awesome. After I received this review package from her, we had a few talks about the inspiration behind some of her polishes, and this was one I was super excited by for so many reasons. First of all, I'm like a raccoon when it comes to shiny things. Give give give! Mine mine mine! I love gold, gold glitter, gold glitter!
One of the only things I love more than the color gold, is the show Dexter. And this polish, Doomsday, was named after a character on the show.
This polish is all things awesome, hands down.
