So there was a lot of debate in the group about what is considered a "boutique" polish brand. I think now with so many different countries making and carrying different items, indies, small independent stores in small cities, that the term is quite broader than it once was. I personally was open to however you wanted to interpret it, and I think in my attempt I interpreted it pretty loosely.

Let's get this week in gear with some funk!
Smashley Ashley and I are back to our Back in Time business and today I took on a flippin' water marble.
I must love that girl, because almost all she had to choose from for last November were water marbles...
I hate them. They are a pain in the butt, the messiest of any nail art EVER and I suck at them. It's true.
So I spun it into something I could manage...

These last 10-ish mani's - some of em are tough (ie SUCK!)
I hate water marbles.
This is not to say I do not like them at all, I just don't like doing them. I am very impressed by what others can do with them, but I've tried them twice, plus a few guinea pig attempts on my boyfriend, and I just failed failed failed so bad I swore I'd never do one again.
Now, I could have faked it for today and stamped it or needle dragged it, but I sucked it up like a big girl and tried it again.
I actually didn't hate it. I started last week, assuming I would need a full weeks worth of trying to get one decent shot at it, but I kinda nailed it the first try this time. It's not great, it's far from perfect, but I liked it with the exception of something weird that happened on the index.

For this marble I started with a base of Orly Au Champagne. I marbled with Julep Brandt (a very dark dark grey), American Apparel Pink Ladies (a salmon pink) and OPI Pink Friday (a pale blue pink)

I so loved the color choices I picked for this, they worked together so well!

My favorite part of this water marble was my pinky. I loved the bleeding dots that made it look like a butterfly.

For this Mani, I used the following polishes:

Base - Julep Kate (white)

Blobs of color:

Pink - Color Club Poptastic

Yellow - Zoya Pippa

Green - Models Own Green Tea

One nice swipe of Butter London QDTC and these babies were good to go and smooth as eggs. I love this...I might love this more than a gradient. It's super easy clean up too...I mean it does get messy, but not nearly as bad as a gradient does. And I love the swirls the colors colliding makes.

Todays a new challenge over at the Purple Crumpet Fairy Group...Spring Water Marble.Oh water marble...why must we fight so? There is nothing I can do right to make marbling work for me. Every time I try it just turns into a disaster...I managed to make this one work but I really didn't like it, so I threw glitter on top of it.I believe I used the new China Glaze Recycle, Sweet Hook, and the Electropop pink colors and the glitter is Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop.
